Dr. Kosteas' new appointment begins this month

Cleveland, OH (July 6, 2023) – Bill Kosteas, Ph.D. has been appointed to the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies position. His appointment is effective July 1, 2023, pending ratification by the Board of Trustees.

Dr. Kosteas earned his Ph.D. in Economics from The Ohio State University in 2004 and joined the ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½¿ª½± faculty that same year. An applied econometrician with fields of specialization in international trade and labor economics, he has conducted research on a variety of topics including employer-sponsored health insurance, job satisfaction, and re-employment outcomes for displaced workers.

He currently serves as Executive Associate Dean in the College of Graduate Studies.

Prior to joining the College of Graduate Studies in June 2020, Bill served as chair of the Economics Department and has a strong record of service to the university which includes having served as program director for the Economics MA program, chair of the University Curriculum Committee, and as ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½¿ª½±â€™s representative for the social and behavioral sciences on the transfer pathways project.

Over the past three years, Dr. Kosteas has been intimately involved with various College of Graduate Studies aspects. He has played an active role in supporting the curriculum review process, updating policies, and seeing the college take a more active role in recruiting graduate students. More recently, he has represented ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½¿ª½± on the Chancellor’s Council on Graduate Studies and will serve as the group’s vice chair for the coming year.
