Regional accreditation is typically focused on nonprofit institutions that focus on academics. For example, all of the public universities in Ohio are regionally accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, an agency that mainly accredits institutions in the Midwest.
There are seven regional accreditors in the United States:
- Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACCJC)
- Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
- Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE)
- New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE)
- Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
- Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
- WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC)
Some institutions are accredited, but their accreditation is considered national. ÀÏ°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¹Ù·½¿ª½± does not take nationally accredited credits. This type of accreditation is typically more focused on the trades.
If you have any questions on what type of accreditation your school has, please email transfer@csuohio.edu and we will assist you in determining the accreditation!
